Mistake is an italo-disco track that we composed and released back in the fall of 2012. We put out various mixes of the song during that time (i.e., original demo version, 12" extended version, piano intro version). We even shot two music videos for it. However, we had to can the first one because of poor lighting conditions. There is also an acoustic piano jazz rendition of the song performed by J.T. Gralka, which can be heard here on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPvZ30nSfv0
The song was still getting attention for us back in 2014, so we went ahead and had it professionally remastered by Eric Boulanger at The Mastering Lab. Eric is now the founder of his own sound studio called The Bakery. Be sure to check him out here: https://thebakery.la/mastering-engineer/eric-boulanger/ His newly mastered version of Mistake sounded better than ever to us, so we went ahead and re-released it then.
So here we are today in the fall of 2017. Five years after its initial indie release, we've noticed that once again 'Mistake' was still doing pretty well for us on Spotify. Often placing on our TOP 5 popular songs list. Because of the song's popularity, it became pretty clear to us that we should just go ahead and re-release the music video with the remastered audio track.
We proudly present to you the official remastered HD music video for 'Mistake'. It may have taken us five years to get here, but we think it was worth the wait.
"The cream has risen to the top! Our third studio album, Powers Activate!, will include ten original songs plus 4 remixes! Instead of putting out an album the traditional way and then releasing singles, we've been doing it backwards and releasing the singles first to see how well they are received and to determine what songs should be included on the actual album. It's a bit of a trial-and-error process that really works for us as an indie band. It's been three years in the making, and it's coming soon!" ~ Carly Emerick
