We spent a lot of time designing the artwork elements for the UK pressing, which is different from its American counterpart in many ways. It includes a revised booklet, a different layout, and features information about the bonus track, “Then There Was You”! 🎶

We’ve been on the go non-stop since the release of our fifth studio album, “Breakthrough!” We essentially hit the ground running on release day and really haven’t slowed down since!

It’s been incredibly rewarding to feel all the love you guys have been showing us. Hoyt and I have been writing songs since we were 13 years old. Our father was a guitarist, and music was always a part of our lives.

Because of strong overseas interest and the high shipping and tariff costs from the U.S. to the UK and EU, we are going to offer an alternative, more affordable CD option through our UK partner, elasticStage.

So, if you live outside the USA and are interested in buying a copy of our new album on compact disc, this post is for you! We know that the high shipping and tariff costs were a dealbreaker for many of you. Now, they don’t have to be.

Please note that these UK discs will be different from the U.S. pressing. These will be CD-Rs rather than replicated Red Book–standard discs. However, they will come complete with the full artwork and a booklet, just like their American counterpart. They will also be made to order.

Candy Apple Blue's "Breakthrough!" is a concept album that explores LGBTQ+ themes of survival, romantic love relationships, optimism, and the triumph of the human spirit.

The band's fifth studio album, which has been 4 & 1/2 years in the making, is considered by many fans to be their best musical offering to date. This release features some of their biggest indie hits, including "Moving Out of Town," "Baby Blue," and "A Touch Too Much." It also includes covers of Peter Godwin's "Images of Heaven," Dead or Alive's "Special Star," and Stevie Nicks' "If Anyone Falls."

Album Cover Art Concept:

Our album's cover art concept functions as a visual manifesto of the current-day LGBTQ+ experience. The graphic design illustrates a community under global attack. Ascending as guardians from heaven, the pink-triangle spaceships are there to beam us up to safety from the current-day systemic hostility. The spermatozoa swimming around the cloud symbolize the biological imperative that we are, in fact, born this way. The lipstick-gun represents our way of beautifying this ugly world, all while fending off our enemies. Hoyt's facial expression captures the weary resilience of a generation, once more, forced to confront historical cycles of prejudice and animosity. I hope the album's cover art evokes a real sense of urgency, like the propaganda posters of the World War I and World War II eras. My artwork is a call to action, demanding the recognition of our survival, our strength, and our resistance.

Let's continue to fight the good fight! Stay strong, stay positive, and we will "Breakthrough!"

Hello Candy Apple Blue listeners, 👋🏻

Today is a very special day for me. Today I turn 54 years old. In this crazy world, that's a feat in and of itself.

There was once a time in my life when I dreaded celebrating my birthday. Before, I never felt that I had accomplished enough in my life to celebrate "me." And every year, when my birthday would roll around, I would compare myself to other people my age who were more "successful."

It took me a long time to realize how foolish I've been. Every person on this big, beautiful planet has their own unique journey and special story.

Looking back on my life, so far, I've lived the life of 10 people! And it's been quite a ride! It's true what they say, "with age comes wisdom." I appreciate each passing day, now more than ever. I'm grateful for all the small things. It's the peaceful and quiet moments that I treasure most. The simple things like playing frisbee with my dogs, being outside working in my garden, cooking a tasty meal, or composing a new song.

Every day is a gift, and my gratitude runs deep. Gone is the foolish young person who was too blind to see all of their accomplishments. Fortunately, my perception and understanding of the world have greatly evolved. Right here and right now, I'm exactly where I need to be. I feel right on time!

While I still have your attention, I wanted to share an update regarding our forthcoming album, "Breakthrough!" Last week, Hoyt and I held a spectacular photo session to capture the right image for the cover art.

We had an absolute blast during the photo shoot! Although it took me about two hours to get my hair and makeup ready, seeing this final photograph now makes it clear that it was well worth the effort.

I decided to do a cat eye look, which can be tough. Fortunately, I still have a steady hand and a very good liquid black eyeliner that did the trick. We are very excited about how the album art is all coming together. Hoyt and I promise it will be as striking as "Powers Activate!" and "Second Sight."

I look forward to sharing more details about this release with you soon. We're hoping to have "Breakthrough!" ready for release by the end of August. 🤞🏻

Over the past 16 years, Matt has continually lifted our music to new heights. Every time Matt accepts production work from us, we know the final result will be a winner. 🏆 His discerning process of selecting and refining our songs is truly what separates the diamonds from the cubic zirconias. And nobody polishes a diamond better than Matt Pop! 💎 His remix legacy is legendary! Our latest union is no different. Our band's original version of "Hot as Hell" was released to modest fanfare, without a chart position, back in November of 2025. After its release, we were able to sit back and objectively listen to what we had created. Though we felt the songwriting and the recorded vocals were solid, the "je ne sais quoi" in the music production was somehow missing. So we thought we'd better speed dial Matt to see if he could work his magic on this one, like he's done for us before. At that time, Matt was very much in the thick of producing the latest album for the Spanish electropop duo Fangoria. So Hoyt and I decided to pack the idea away. Six months later, we reconnected and were finally able to get into the books. There's a special kind of magic that happens when we create music with Matt Pop and Nick Bramlett. There's a unique synergy there that our fans find completely irresistible. Mark your calendars this summer for June 26, 2026! Things are about to heat up. I'm writing to share a quick update regarding our upcoming project. Last week, Hoyt and I finalized the official track listing and sequence for our forthcoming 16-track album, Breakthrough.

This album has been four and a half years in the making, and 12 of the 16 tracks are produced by Matt Pop. While we considered a double-disc release, we have decided that a single compact disc makes for a more exciting compilation.

We are pressing a very limited run of 200 CD's. They will be factory-pressed Red Book standard discs. We look forward to sharing the official track listing with you soon.
