A “Knight” To Remember!

I had an awesome "Knight". I got the chance to meet my heroine and hit songwriter extraordinaire Holly Knight. She has been a huge songwriting inspiration to me for as long as I can remember. Holly Knight recently released her first book. It's a fantastic memoir about her songwriting and life experiences in the 1980s titled "I Am the Warrior".

Holly Knight composed some of "The Best" songs of that decade! The Best for Tina Turner, Love is a Battlefield for Pat Benatar, The Warrior for Scandal featuring Patty Smyth, Love Touch for Rod Stewart, Ragdoll for Aerosmith, Obsession for Animotion, Never for Heart, and Just Between You & Me for Lou Gramm, just to name a few. 

Additionally, she had hits on her own as a solo artist and with her bands, Spider and Device. (e.g., Heart Don't Fail Me Now, Better Be Good to Me, and Hanging on a Heart Attack) It was a real privilege to meet this talented and beautiful lady! I've adored her since I was a kid.

I also got the chance to meet and hang out with Violet Sky for the evening! Violet is so totally awesome! She's an up-and-coming singer who's quickly becoming an internet celebrity and influencer! Her focus is on '80s music, fashion, hair, make-up, and media. I gave her a copy of my Spider album so that she would have something else to get signed. (In addition to her book and Holly Knight's solo album.)

I also took an unconventional photo of Holly and Violet getting their photograph taken by someone else. It's a fun side angle. I thought that it came out pretty great, so I'm going to share it with you here!

One last thing! So Violet and I were the first to arrive. (Even before the doors opened.) So before we went in, I took this cool shot of the window dressing showing Holly's event. I got a ton of videos and images from this evening. Maybe someday, I will share more. Patty Smyth was there and triumphantly sang acoustic versions of The Warrior and Hands Tied. Holly herself played a glorious piano rendition of Love Is a Battlefield. It was a "Knight" to remember! ~ Hoyt
